Effective date: 10-Sep-2025
DuoShot is an iOS application that lets you record and live stream using the iPhone’s front and back cameras simultaneously in a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) layout. This Privacy Policy explains what information we (do not) collect, how on-device data is used, and what happens when you choose to live stream to third-party platforms such as YouTube.
Short version: Your media and settings stay on your device. We do not run servers, do not collect analytics, and do not sell or share your data. If you stream to YouTube, your stream is handled under Google/YouTube’s policies.

02 What data we access and why (on device)
The app asks for camera, microphone, photo library and network access only to record, save and live stream.
The App requests certain iOS permissions solely to provide camera/recording and live streaming features:
- Camera — required to preview and capture video from front and back cameras, including PiP.
- Microphone — required to record and/or stream audio with your video.
- Photo Library (write) — used to save videos/photos you capture to your device’s Photos app (when you choose to save).
- Network — used only when you start a live stream (RTMP) to a platform you select (e.g., YouTube).
Important: All captured media (videos, photos) and settings remain on your device unless you explicitly share/export them or start a live stream.
03 Data we store
Your media, preferences and stream key are stored only on your device, never uploaded to us.
All app data is stored locally on your device:
- Media files you capture (PiP composite and sidecar videos/photos).
- App preferences (e.g., PiP shape, zoom levels, UI state).
- Streaming credentials such as your YouTube stream key, which we store securely in the iOS Keychain.
We do not upload this data to our servers (we don’t operate any). We do not use third-party analytics SDKs.
04 Live streaming and third-party services (YouTube)
When you go live, your stream goes straight from your device to YouTube, and YouTube and Google’s policies apply to it.
When you enter a YouTube stream key and go live, the App encodes and sends your video/audio via RTMP directly from your device to YouTube. No YouTube account data is fetched by the App; we only use the stream key you provide.
Because your live stream is delivered to YouTube, YouTube’s Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy apply to the handling of your stream and any data processed by Google. Please review them:
- YouTube Terms of Service: https://www.youtube.com/t/terms
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not receive your Google account data. We do not have access to your YouTube channel, viewers, comments, or analytics. Any visibility, retention, or processing of your stream on YouTube is governed by YouTube/Google.
05 What we do not collect
We don’t collect personal details, location, tracking identifiers, analytics or facial data, and video frames are processed locally.
- No names, emails, phone numbers, or contact lists
- No precise location data
- No advertising identifiers for tracking
- No usage analytics or crash analytics to our servers
- No biometric templates or facial recognition data
The App processes video frames locally to render PiP and apply masks—this image data is not transmitted to us.
Note: If you’ve opted in to Apple’s device analytics, Apple may collect diagnostics under Apple’s policies, not ours.
06 Your choices and controls
You can change permissions, delete media, remove stream keys or uninstall the app at any time.
- Permissions — You can grant/deny Camera/Microphone/Photos at any time in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security. Denying access will limit functionality (e.g., you cannot record without camera/mic).
- Delete media — Remove videos/photos from the app gallery and from the Photos app whenever you wish.
- Remove stream keys — You can clear your YouTube stream key in the App’s platform settings; it will be removed from the iOS Keychain.
- Uninstall — Deleting the App removes its local data stored in the app sandbox. (Media already saved to the Photos app remains there until you delete it.)
07 Children’s privacy
The app isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can assist with deletion.
08 Security
We use the Keychain and iOS Data Protection and run no remote servers, but no system is 100% secure.
We follow iOS best practices:
- Keychain storage for sensitive secrets (e.g., stream keys)
- iOS Data Protection for files at rest in the app sandbox
- No remote servers reduce exposure to network risks
Even so, no system can be 100% secure. Use strong device passcodes and keep iOS updated.
09 International transfers
We don’t transfer your data, but YouTube streams may be processed on Google servers outside your country.
We do not transfer your data to our servers. If you stream to YouTube, your stream is processed by Google’s infrastructure and may be handled on servers outside your country per Google’s policies.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will publish material changes in-app or on our website with a new Effective date.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product, legal, or regulatory changes. Material updates will be made available in-app or on our website, with a new Effective date.
